I'm Daniel D., the breeder behind Hillside Springs Farm located in Montville, CT. We're strong advocates of proper breeding practices & run our program accordingly. We breed top-quality English Springer Spaniels. We are very experienced with Spaniels and are careful to breed and raise our pups with only the best policies. The quality of our puppies reflects the conscious decisions we make throughout every part of the breeding process. All puppies have tails docked and dewclaws removed by our licensed Vet unless otherwise specified ( decision point prior to 3 days old).

Why did you start breeding?
Our deep love for the English Springer Spaniel breed. As ex hunters we valued ESS's as a superior upland bird dog. We have since found that Springers make even better family dogs!What makes your program special?
We breed for temperment and disposition. We monitor our previous litters to verify they are compliant.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black white and tan, liver and white, and liver white and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia , Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
DNA Coat/Trait Panel, DNA Disease Panel, DNA Profile
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

+5The breeder has established a quality-based breeding program and is very responsible in how they handle the genetics of the animals. They are very open and convey their knowledge to the new puppy parents about the breed and each individual puppy. They kept us updated with milestones and supplied a lot of pictures and videos as the puppies grew and made us all feel very involved with the litter, even before pickup. A wonderful experience for us all!

We love our Otis pup so much! He is a member of our family. Thanks to Daniel, it was such a smooth transition for him when we brought him home. He was well socialized, and crate and potty trained. Even though we live an hour away, we were able to visit our pup twice before bringing him home. Due to my schedule, I wasn’t able to bring Otis home until he was 12 weeks, and Daniel was very accommodating about this (thank you!!) My kids absolutely adore Otis and the feeling is mutual. Otis loves playing in the yard when the kids are out there. And in the evening, he is my favorite little foot warmer. He is such a good boy and I can’t imagine my home without him. Daniel loves his dogs and truly wants the best for their pups!

We had been looking for awhile. Ive had Springers for 50 yrs. Picky on what we wanted, & most were quite a distance away. Found Hillside Spring Farms. Dan (& Cherry) were great. Pictures, info, updates. When we went to pick Wrigley up we were very happy getting to meet his litter mates, parents, & the rest of the crew. You could tell they were well cared for. Extremely happy with our pup & with the Hillside Springs Farm experience. We highly recommend them. Great dogs, great people !

Daniel was wonderful. He breeds his dogs with much love and care. We were able to visit our puppy before purchasing him and we met out puppies parents and grandparents. All the dogs have amazing temperments and are so friendly. When we picked up our puppy Daniel sent us home with his medical records and food that will last 3 - 4 weeks. Excellent experience, I would definitely recommend Hillside Springs Farm to anyone wanting an English Springer Spaniel to join their family.
