I'm Melanie P., the breeder behind Lone Star Longhair Dachshunds located in Avinger, TX. Every puppy we raise is adored from birth. They are born with me right there and are handled from the moment they’re born. They are socialized with my 3 kids and my two cats. I do my best to prepare them for life away from here. Day to day noises like kids, cooking, vacuuming and washer and dryers.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    When it was me and my hubbies first Valentine’s Day I got him a dachshund. Then a while later I got myself one because I fell in love with the breed. I made the decision to breed the pair. In the beginning I was not good at all but I realized how much I enjoyed it and wanted to get better. I have been working on my lines for about 7 years now and am really proud of the dogs I have in my program!

  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

    Our puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat types in your program?

    Our puppies have longhaired coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include piebald, cream, red, brindle, black and tan, black and cream, and dapple. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Melanie

Melanie has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Melanie partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $250 non-refundable deposit and between $950 - $1,550 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“All of my dogs are apri and ckc dual registered. The pricing covers vet checks, wormings, food, spoiling, and anything they might need. They go home with a baggy of food, a toy, a blanket, vet paperwork and some potty pads!”

Melanie may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.
