Meet the breeder

I'm Maria L., the breeder behind Maria's Morkies & More located in Pittsburgh, PA. All of our dogs are loved as family members. We cherish our puppies from birth up until they leave our arms to snuggle into yours! Each of our dogs has brought so much happiness to us throughout their lives. We want to do our part to produce wonderful, healthy dogs that can bring other people joy as well, and we strive to provide each of our puppies with loving homes where they can live happy lives.

Q. & A. with Maria

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started breeding imported German Shepherds in my early 30’s when I imported my very first male Shepherd Agar who was a trained k9. He was the most amazing dog I ever owned and I fell in love with the breed. I bred shepherds n trained them for about 10 years until a car accident prevented me from handling such a large breed dog. I’d never owned a small dog before until a boyfriend bought me my first Morkie Molly who I still own and is now retired. I’ve added several Morkies, Maltese and Yorkies to my family and breeding program over the last few years and they’re just amazing companions.
  • What makes your program special?

I breed quality healthy social family companions raised in my home as a part of my family. The receive the best care and abundance of love and attention so you are guaranteed a lovable little lap dog for many years to love and enjoy as a part of your family.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Maltese puppies include white and white and lemon. Yorkshire Terrier puppies are black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

“We take great care in matching our families with the perfect puppy to welcome into their homes to love for many years to come. I will try to accommodate each family with a puppy that suits their lifestyle, home life and activity level taking into consideration that some puppies have more energy than others which would be better suited for someone with an active lifestyle vs a calmer puppy that would prefer refer to lay with uou on the sofa watching your favourite movie. I take into consideration if there are other pets in the home, sizes, breeds also if there are children their ages so I can make suggestions on which puppy may be a suitable match so that every family is happy with their new puppy however buyers do make the final decision in their selection.”

We are so in love with our pup! Maria was great to work with! She answered our questions quickly and sent us pictures of our little girl. She even video chatted with us so we could see our girl and she could hear our voices. We are so happy to have found Maria through Good Dog!

Maria kept great care of our puppy and made us feel very comfortable with our selection of her as a breeder when we visited the puppy a few weeks before taking her home. Week or two after taking her home, we took her to our vet who checked her out and said Maria definitely good care of her.

Maria was so kind to send me pictures when I asked. And kept me updated on Daisy’s progress.
