Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Merimaur Goldens and Cavaliers located in Holbrook, NY. We love this breed and do everything we can to help it thrive. We give each of our dogs and puppies the best care that we can. Our breeding program stands out because of the personal attention we give to every detail of the journey. From researching breeding pairs and conducting health testing, to purposefully raising each pup with proper socialization and care, our goal is to help preserve this historic breed.

Maureen’s experience

  • About Maureen

I breed only quality, health tested dogs with the proper temperament for the breed. Goldens and Cavaliers have the greatest temperaments and that is why I have chosen to breed them. They are both beautiful , and are great companions and family dogs. I have had Champions, obedience titlists and Therapy dogs that have been Merimaur dogs.

  • What makes Maureen’s program special

I breed only a few litters a year and do my best to combine health, temperament , beauty and the AKC Breed Standard.

  • Maureen is a member of 4 clubs

More about Maureen

  • Why Maureen started breeding

My family got a Norwegian Elkhound puppy when I was 13 and Dad started showing him and did really well becoming the #10 Elkhound in the country. I was then gifted a beautiful female puppy that I showed myself and finished her championship and then bred the litter and kept a puppy that I finished as a Champion when he was 10 months old. That was when I was hooked on breeding but took many periods of time off, for school and life, etc. started breeding Goldens n 1987 when I worked for a kennel that bred them and fell in love with the breed. I also fell in love with the Cavalier for their wonderful temperament and beauty and their compact size.
