I'm John and Dennice R., the breeder behind Morning Star Malinois located in Franklin, VA. We raise, train and compete with our dogs to provide a test of capabilities and an understanding of temperament. We produce working line Belgian Malinois puppies that are placed with agencies, organizations and buyers who have had experience with working breed dogs.

We spend a great deal of energy working our dogs and we spend a great deal of time with each litter and individual puppy making sure that they are conditioned properly to continue to meet expectations of the buyers by providing confident pups ready to go to work in training. We also stay in touch through social media with all of our buyers to make sure that they receive information current with the breed!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include mahogany and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from John and Dennice
John and Dennice has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.
John and Dennice partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.
“We use an assessment test administered by a 3 party trainer who is qualified to interrupt the results. This is a test that provides us information we need to best match the buyer with a pup that will align to the type of activities the buyer has planned, work and living conditions ”
Price
“Price includes all vaccinations to date, deworming, heath certification from vet, copy of the training protocol we use, AKC registration, Microchip with Reunite, a gift bag of accessories, and lifetime of support. We will refund on deposits made in advance of whelping if we cannot fill the desired gender or if there are not enough pups to deliver. All puppies are same price regardless of gender color or physical appearance.”

Zoe has a great temperament and come from Belgian lines. She has great herding instincts and enjoys meeting new people. Her pups from previous litters are engaged in law enforcement, SAR teams, Ring sports, farm work and personal service animals.

Ziva is a female Belgian Malinois. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, John and Dennice decided to make her part of their program. John and Dennice has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.

About Zena
Zena is 3 years old and is an extremely high drive and athletic dog. Though we do not trial our dogs as much as we used to her siblings and bloodlines are highly decorated. She has a sister who is a competition dog and at 6 years of age has 54 AKC titles and 6 championships. A number of her other siblings work as LE K9 s and SAR digs as well as private security. Her Sire is Red Rocket Arco (Zack) and her Dam is Riverwood’s Morning Star Zoe. Zoe is now 11 and has produce many fine dogs. She is still very active and runs the house enjoying her retirement years

Anya is a very high drive Mal. She is incredibly smart and works non stop when we are doing search and odor work She has produced some great pups working in SAR units and homeland security units as well as competitors in ring sports and AKC trials

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Dilated Cardiomyopathy 1 (DCM1)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
