I'm Lauren H., the breeder behind Origins Goldens located in Strawberry Plains, TN. Our goal is to raise what the GRCA describes as "a truly multipurpose family hunting dog." We raise our puppies in our family home and introduce then to behavior shaping, potty training, and early stimulation to help you get a head start on training a well adjusted dog.

Update: this is another disappointing one, and I have to say, a bit heartbreaking. Miss Ivy failed her hip evaluation, receiving a Mild score for dysplasia in both hips, particularly her left hip which is showing signs of early osteoarthritis. This is both a personal disappointment as she's a family pet before she's a prospect, but it's also a crushing development for the program being our *only* active breeding prospect. If you've been waiting for a puppy - we did decide after many considerations (primarily her excellent overall health and low number of litters) to give it one more go with Kyra after the new year, however for future waitlists, we do not have an immediate plan. I know that this is disappointing news to more than just myself and our family, and I want to say how sorry I am to have to leave those who have waited so long with so little answers. I will be in touch with those on our immediate waitlist shortly to discuss the planned Kyra litter, but understand completely if some decide to move forward with a different program. For now, I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and I pray that we have more hopeful news in 2026. It's been an incredible blessing to raise these special babies and to meet the families who go on to love them. I'm thankful for those I've met in the breeder and dog sporting community, and hope to return to this job that I love in the near future. ❤️ I am still processing this news but plan to get in touch with everyone individually after the holiday.

I'm disappointed to say that we confirmed last week by xray that Kyra is in fact *not* expecting puppies this week, which means we will not be having a 2025 litter after all. I've been in touch with my waitlist and have given out some names of breeders I trust who are expecting fall litters, as well as moved several names of those who prefer to stay with Origins over to my 2026 list. I have since chosen a stud for that future litter and have scheduled the first couple of health tests Ivy needs to complete and pass in order to move forward with that planned litter. More details on Ivy's litter to come! In the meantime, Kyra will be scheduled for a spay in the next several months and will also have her annual OFA eye exam next month with the rest of the crew. She will turn 6 in February and we will be adding bloodwork to her annual wellness appointments as she ages. She is sticking with us and will not be moving to a retirement home.❤️ Thank you to those who were waiting on a Kyra/Scout puppy for being so gracious and understanding at this unfortunate news!

Kyra has an xray scheduled for Thursday! 🤞🏻 I'm having a hard time figuring out if she's gained weight from puppies or just from the extra food this time. She's carried two litters of 12, so my hope is that I'm just used to seeing her extra large! That said, Thursday will be both a confirmation that she does have babies on board, as well as a puppy count to see how many we can expect! After that, we should see pups a week later. 🤞🏻 Wish us luck on Thursday!

Scout and Kyra's litter

Lauren H.
A few people have asked about Kyra - she's doing great! Her usual quiet self, but maybe a little extra frisky. Maybe she senses something? 🤞🏻Kyra typically gets extra attached to her people, especially myself, when she's either in heat or pregnant, and I'm watching for that sort of behavior. 💕 She's still a master of puppy eyes at five years old. 🥹

Scout and Kyra's litter

CONFIRMED. Kyra IS in heat. She had her first progesterone test this morning and things are definitely progressing. I imagine we'll be visiting Scout sometime later next week! She enjoyed a pup cup on the way home to make up for the poke she got from the vet for the bloodwork. 😬 I think she forgives me. Lol Due date should definitely be somewhere in that third full week in August!

Lauren H.
All signs point to Kyra's heat cycle starting this morning. 👏🏻 We'll get her progesterone tested early next week and plan her date with Scout likely the following week. If I had to guess right now, and as long as everything goes to plan, her due date will be somewhere around August 17th. 👀

Scout and Kyra's litter

I've been reaching out to everyone on the waiting list over the past two days - it looks we'll have a litter a few months earlier than we planned originally! 🤞🏻 Hoping to have some good news and specific dates in the next few weeks!

Golden Retriever
About Ivy
Ivy was our keeper from the 2023 litter and is currently still a puppy. She will continue training and health testing before she is officially added to the breeding program. Our hope for Ivy is to bring performance and field titles into our lines. Ivy has a natural love of training and has been a confident and social puppy since she was very young. Her first litter should be in 2026/2027 after she completes her final OFA clearances.

About Kyra
Kyra has a high toy/fetch drive and has been described as sweet natured by clients, vets, and family members. She is gentle with our young kids and our other dogs and is more people oriented than she is interested in strange dogs. She enjoys using her nose and carrying stuffed animals or tennis balls around the house. She currently has her AKC Fit Dog Silver title which she earned by hiking with me at state parks and local trails.

Lauren from Origins Goldens was always extremely responsive and helpful. Any questions I had about the parents and the puppies she was quick and kind to respond. I absolutely loved how helpful she was when it came to matching the best puppy to my goals and lifestyle. I'm overall very happy with my experience and would more than happy purchase another puppy from her program in the future! Moose (formerly Bailey) is everything I could have asked for and more. I'm over the moon happy with the puppy I brought home and am excited to see what else our journey entails.
