Meet the breeder

I'm Stephanie K., the breeder behind Tobitatsu Shiba Inu located in Marshall, MN. We first and foremost breed for sound & sweet temperaments, adhering to the AKC breed standard, strict health testing and for the AKC conformation show ring. Our dogs are AKC champions and/or come from legitimate champions — no BS! All of our dogs are fully health tested through OFA & Embark.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I got involved in Japanese dogs back in 2007 when I got my first Shiba Inu. After many years of planning, I got my first show prospects. After a few years, I finished my first AKC Champion. Since then, I have bred a few litters and finished my own bred-by Champions. I am extremely passionate about the breed and their preservation.

  • What makes your program special?

    I raise all my puppies indoors where they are monitored around the clock. They are raised with ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) & grow up being handled and loved every step of the way. My puppies are starting to potty train at 3 weeks of age and learn very quickly! Once mom is done, I take the reins & socialize them through curated public outings up until they leave around 9-10 weeks of age.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include cream, red, black and tan, and sesame. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $2,500 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

All of our puppies are the same price, regardless of parents. Every puppy is pre-registered to the AKC & comes microchipped with AKC Reunite, the deposit covers most of these fees & vaccines."

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
