What is Good Dog's On-Platform Payment Policy?

To protect our community, our policy requires that you use our secure payment platform to complete all deposits and dog payments between you and Good Dog applicants.

How does Good Dog protect my payments?
We guarantee every payment made to you by a Good Dog buyer, which means you’re protected from scammers, fraudulent chargebacks, canceled payments, and unauthorized refunds.

Are there fees?

For breeders:

It’s completely free to list a litter on Good Dog. Once we do the work of bringing you a buyer you decide to place a puppy with and a Good Dog buyer makes a successful deposit or final dog payment, we’ll deduct 6.5% from the total amount. When you list a litter, you’ll have full control over setting your listing price as well as your desired payout amount. You can always choose to adjust your desired payout to accommodate this deduction in a way that works best for you.

This deduction will not apply to payments categorized as “Other” payments, such as those for transportation, training, or other miscellaneous costs. Additionally, no deductions will be applied to payments from off-platform buyers or from buyers that you refer to Good Dog. When a buyer first visits Good Dog through your referral links (available in your dashboard), our system will automatically mark them as your referral, so we can ensure that any payments from these buyers will be deduction-free.

For buyers:
Buyers can choose to pay on Good Dog with zero fees or with Protection & Support for a small fee, which includes free access to Good Dog’s Puppy Training Program ($235 value), exclusive discounts from our partners, lifetime support from our team of experts, and more! If buyers choose to complete their payment with Protection & Support, the fee is listed completely separately from your prices, which are always in your control, and no Protection & Support fees are ever taken out of the amount you’re paid.

Buyers can make payments on Good Dog at no cost by opting out of Good Dog Protection & Support and paying via bank transfer (instead of with a credit card). If Good Dog buyers pay with a credit or debit card, they’ll be charged a 3.3% processing fee. The fee is paid directly to our card processor — not Good Dog.

What is Good Dog Protection & Support?
When buyers pay on Good Dog, they can choose to pay withProtection & Support for a small fee. With Protection & Support, they get:

  • Access to our Puppy Training Program (a $235 value)
  • Lifetime support for their puppy from our world-class team
  • Guaranteed payment protection 

What payment methods can I accept on Good Dog? 

Good Dog buyers pay you with any major credit or debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or via ACH bank transfer. 

How will I know how much money I’ll get in my payout?

When listing or editing a litter, you’ll be able to set your exact listing price and payout amount. This ensures you have complete control over your desired payout and know what to expect. You’ll also see your payout amount clearly summarized when requesting or accepting a payment from a buyer.

Can I adjust my listing price to control my payout amount?

Yes. When listing a litter, you have full transparency and control over setting both your listing price and your desired payout amount. We’ve made this process easy by showing you exactly how your listing price and payout amount change as you edit each when listing a litter. 

When will the fee be applied?

The 6.5% deduction applies when a Good Dog buyer makes a successful payment, whether it’s a deposit or final payment, after you decide to place a puppy with them. Once the payment is completed, we’ll deduct 6.5% from the total amount (based on your listing price or payment request). You’ll then receive your desired payout amount transferred to your chosen payout method.

When do I receive funds?

Once the buyer completes a payment, the money is instantly guaranteed by us. That means even if a payment has not yet arrived in your bank account, you’re guaranteed the money you’re owed.

Can I use Good Dog to collect payments from non-Good Dog applicants? 

Yes. You can always share your unique payment link with non-Good Dog buyers.

How do I receive funds?

When you collect payments on Good Dog, you can choose to receive them as direct deposits to your bank account or debit card, mailed by check, or deposited into your PayPal account. We refer to these options as “payout methods," and you can get yours setup here.

When you receive a payment on Good Dog, you’ll get an email notification and the funds will immediately appear in your Good Dog account. We immediately transfer money from your Good Dog account to your preferred payout method. Depending on your bank, it may take up to 3 business days to process your money transfer. But don’t worry — your money is 100% guaranteed by Good Dog. 

How do I accept payments in person?

It’s easy to collect payments on Good Dog in person. All you need is the Good Dog Breeder mobile app. You can use the Good Dog breeder mobile app to share your QR code or send a payment request. 

To collect payment with your QR code:

  1. Open the Good Dog Breeder mobile app and select the “Payments” tab
  2. Select “Start in-person payment” 
  3. Have your Good Dog buyer scan your QR code with their phone camera and follow the prompts

To send a payment request:

  1. Go to your message thread with your Good Dog buyer
  2. Select “Request payment” 
  3. Your buyer will receive a payment request in their message thread with you. Have them follow the prompts to complete a payment.

Your unique Good Dog referral links are always available in your dashboard.You can add them to your website and social media pages, or send them directly to buyers. Using these links marks the buyers you bring to Good Dog as your referrals, ensuring that payments from these referred buyers will be deduction-free.
