I'm Jana S., the breeder behind Smart Dalmatians (LUA/HUA) located in Westhoff, TX. Our mission is to raise healthy, happy, adorable Dalmatian puppies and connect loving families with their new best friend! Raising puppies has been so much fun, although we take our role in raising them seriously. Breeding has helped us share the joy of our dogs with other families and individuals.

I had Dalmatians as a child!What makes your program special?
Our dogs are a part of our family. They are constantly interacting with our four children. We strive to be transparent and honest with our puppy parents.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are white and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Jana partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Parent health testing
Excellent level
Smart Dalmatians (LUA/HUA) reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Dalmatians.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Congenital Deafness (BAER, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
Hyperuricosuria (HUU)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

+7Jana was very responsive and always happy to answer questions. She consistently stayed in touch after we brought our Dal home. I am now going to gush about my Dal, Beatrice, because I think she is a shining example of Jana's excellent breeding and puppy socialization. Our Dal is now 3 years old and she is an amzing dog! She is very intuitive, quick to learn, and incredibly loving. Beatrice loves cuddling and actively seeks out kisses on her cheeks. Everyone she meets from dog owners, to trainers, to vets say she is the sweetest, most well behaved, well tempered Dalmatian they have ever met. She is happy to go on city walks, hikes, and car rides. Beatrice is a great companion to our other dogs, friendly with cats, and really good with kids. She has never had any health issues. +7I got Olive about 2 weeks ago. She had her first vet appointment yesterday with absolutely no issues. She is so sweet and cuddly, and she sleeps a lot!!! But she also loves to play and gets very excited quickly. She loves all her toys and most of all her cousins!

Jana was responsive, very pleasant and sent us pics once a week. My husband drove 1,100 miles each way to pick up Maisie at 9 weeks! Jana had a scent rag ready, puppy bathed, to go bag, puppy records, a packet of information. She had a nice spacious habitat for the puppies.
