I'm the breeder behind Bonsai Wolf Shiba Inu located in Hanford, CA. I’m a small-scale breeder of Shiba Inu. My priorities when breeding are health, temperament, and to abide by the breed standard. I am a member of Nippo and our regional AKC breed club. I am currently the ONLY responsible breeding program for this breed in Central Valley California.

Getting a puppy from Michelle

Michelle has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices range from $3,000 - $3,500 and include a non-refundable deposit of $1,000.

What's included

Enrichment and socialization

My puppies will be socialized with kids, different people, other dogs, pets, and noises. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Basic Manners, Initial House Training, Crate Training, Various Surfaces, Sound Stimulation, Human Interactions, Various People, Socialized with Other Animals, and Socialized with Adult Dogs.

Puppy health practices

All of my puppies will receive a wellness check, first vaccinations, and microchips before going to their home.

Extras

We send our puppies home with Vaccinations, Puppy Starter Kit, Microchip, Certificate of Health, Blanket with Mom's Scent, and AKC Registration.

Bringing your puppy home

Pick up your puppy in Hanford, CA or nearby

If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.

“Local pickup is preferred. Puppies shipped will be shipped out at 10 weeks, no earlier. Shipping is an additional cost. ”

  • Hip Dysplasia , Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Dentition

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • GM1 Gangliosidosis (GLB1), Shiba Inu Type

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
