I'm the breeder behind Fantasy Shih Tzu located in Green Lake, WI. I am a firm believer that careful planning and breed knowledge are key to any successful breeder/exhibitor. There is so much more to be learned about our breed via exhibiting them.
About Susan
I've been a member of the American Shih Tzu Club (ASTC) since 1989 and served many terms as a Director on the ASTC Board of Directors ('05-'13), a contact for ASTC Breeder Referral, Health Research Education Committee, Bylaws Committee, and was Chairman of the Education Committee for many years. I am also an ASTC approved Shih Tzu Judge Mentor, receiving my breed training from both Richard & Wendy Paquette and Kristi Trivilino. I am currently completing my requirements to become an American Kennel Club licensed judge for Shih Tzu. I feel that continued breed education only helps to benefit our Shih Tzu and their owners.
What makes Susan’s program special
I have had the pleasure of owning other wonderful Shih Tzu bred by terrific breeder fanciers and sponsored them to their championships. The opportunity to carefully select the sires and dams, attend to every litter, take time away on the weekends to exhibit my Tzu, has been afforded to me by my family and friends over the years.
Susan is a member of 3 clubs
American Shih Tzu Club, Shih Tzu Club of Southeastern Wisconsin, Shih Tzu Club Of Wisconsin's Fox Valley
Susan’s certifications & recognitions
AKC Breeder of Merit
Susan has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $1,200 - $1,600 and include a refundable deposit of $600.
“I normally ask half of the price as a good faith reservation deposit, the remainder is due at the time of pickup or before transportation takes place.”
Susan may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Susan offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Susan directly.
I utilize the following enrichment methods: Potty Training, Socialized with Other Animals, Sound Stimulation, Toys, e.g. Ball, Touch Desensitization, Early Neurological Stimulation, Grooming Desensitization, and Structures, e.g. Climbing.
All of our puppies are home raised and socialized by me, vet. health screened w/at least their first puppy shots and the individual puppy's examination record/report is provided. We endeavor to breed to the highest quality available in our breed and usually have pet puppies with each litter to offer to loving, suitable homes and families. We sell our pets on limited registration basis only (no breeding rights), or registrations will be withheld until proof of spay/neuter is provided. It is our task to carefully screen anyone interested as best we can so that we will not need to have any of our Shih Tzu returned. Two vet exams are part of our screening procedures. My vet knows our dogs very well and has recommended me as a good AKC breeder of Shih Tzu.
We send our puppies home with Food Starter Bag, Toys, Educational Information, ASTC Handbook, and Puppy Collar.
Susan offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
“We welcome visitors to meet all of our dogs, learn much about them. We have offered to meet at airports once good screening has been had and offer fly nanny contacts.”
Work with a trusted flight nanny to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.
Why Susan started breeding
My story is like so many of us who at some point lost a valuable pet companion and began searching for just the right one to fill the empty place left behind. It was 1985 when I was first introduced to Shih Tzu. At that time, Shih Tzu here in Wisconsin were not as widely bred nor widely known. I came to find out that a Shih Tzu Club existed in the Milwaukee area and was about to hold a Sanction B Match open to anyone. I enthusiastically went to the event, exhibited and immediately applied for membership. I knew from the beginning that this breed was the right one for me and my family. It provided a wonderful opportunity to have fun in the sport of showing purebred dogs. From that point on, I was interested in the breed's quality, history, and related events. More specifically, I enjoyed conformation exhibiting and found it to be a challenge. A challenge to which I would make a commitment. What drew me to the sport was the love and beauty of Shih Tzu.
