About Earl
We are a small home based breeder previously located in Bloomington (Minneapolis) Minnesota and currently Sioux City, Iowa.
What makes Earl’s program special
GEMMS Kennels is kind of a non-truth. We are not really a kennel at all. Our pets are in the house with us and never go in a kennel. Because we don’t have a barn full of dogs, and don’t believe dogs should be raised in that manner, some of our dogs live with family and family friends. Being loved and being pets are their first priorities.
Earl is a member of 3 clubs
Affenpinscher Club of America, Tibetan Terrier Club of America, Inc., Great Plains Kennel Club
Earl’s certifications & recognitions
AKC Breeder of Merit, CHIC Certified
Earl has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Please contact the breeder to get more information about pricing.
“Deposits are non-refundable unless we can not meet your preference (male vs female) within 12 months. We do not guarantee colors.”
Earl may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Earl offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Earl directly.
All puppies are raised in the home and interact with adult dogs and other family members when they reach the appropriate age. Puppies are held and played with regularly and are sound-acclimated. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Socialized with Adult Dogs, Sound Stimulation, Touch Desensitization, and Household Desensitization.
All puppies are vaccinated, dewormed, and examined by a veterinarian.
We send our puppies home with AKC Registration, Blanket with Mom's Scent, Certificate of Health, Food Starter Bag, Microchip, Vaccinations, Toy with Littermates' Scent, and Puppy Starter Kit.
Earl offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Work with a trusted flight nanny or transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.
Why Earl started breeding
We had been raising Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers since 1988 and fell in love with the Tibetan Terriers in the late 1990's. We adopted our first Tibetan Terrier Sophie into our home in the fall of 2000. We waited to show her and she finished her Championship in the fall of 2003. One of our favorite wins was a Best of Breed win over several champions by what were considered top breeders back then.
Earl has been a member of Good Dog for almost 6 years
Earl was screened for responsible practices and has been a member since 2019.
