I'm the breeder behind Gemstone Bichons located in Pine Brook, NJ. As breeders of this very beautiful and unique breed, we love and are devoted to every Bichon in our care. Each of our precious Bichons leaves an indelible paw-print on our hearts.
About Jewel
I am a retired school administrator, and my husband Mitchell is a dentist. I spend a major part of my day with my dogs and my puppies. Our children are all grown now so our Bichons have filled our empty nest. We currently live with one puppy and nine champion Bichons.
What makes Jewel’s program special
We have a large home where our dogs have free run of the ground floor that opens to outside and the first floor. They can go in and out as they choose and there is a large area for them to play both inside and outside.

Jewel may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Jewel offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Jewel directly.
Our dogs are socialized by being the center of our household. Our grown children come home to play with our crew, and when the puppies are old enough we take them to dog shows with us!
Our puppies are given their shots and given a clean bill of health from a licensed vet following an examination.
Your puppy may come with extra benefits, like a small bag of food or a toy carrying the scent of their littermates. While Gemstone Bichons hasn’t shared specifics yet, we encourage you to reach out directly to learn what thoughtful extras they may include to help your puppy transition comfortably into their new home.
Jewel offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Why Jewel started breeding
In 1991, we got our first Bichon, Shana, from a breeder as a family pet. We were a busy household with someone usually home, coming or going so we decided that Shana needed her own kind of company. A year later we brought home Magic, a playmate for Shana. After this milestone, and as each of our children grew up and moved on, our Bichon family continued to grow. Phat Baby and Tessie came to us as pets and all the others were our pets, as well as our champions.
Jewel has been a member of Good Dog for about 6 years
