I'm the breeder behind L & J Shorthairs located in Washington, PA. We love to responsibly raise and train our puppies so they have the tools to be well-rounded, beloved family members. We find so much joy in watching our puppies grow and develop their own unique personalities. We can’t wait for you to meet your next loving and loyal companion!

Enrichment and socialization

I utilize the following enrichment methods: positive experiences in all situations, conformation stacking and nail trimming, Social, also have lots of friends and family who come over to handle the puppies and help out with the puppies daily. I do not take them to public places to expose them to people as they are not fully vaccinated until 16 weeks. , Leash Training, Early stages of crate training, crate training, Structures, e.g. Climbing, Fireworks , Outdoors, e.g. rain, car riding , Noise desensitized , Noises , Strangers, Chew, e.g. Bone, Toys, e.g. Ball, Household Desensitization, Sound Stimulation, Socialized with Children, Socialized with Other Animals, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Cats, Early socialization, Initial House Training, leash training for control. visiting different environments, Noise desensitization, Litter Box Trained, Car Training , Human Interactions , Puppy Manners, Sit Command, Crate Training, "No" Biting or Chewing, Leash Walking, and Potty Training.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
