Certified Breeder of Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, German Shorthaired Pointers, and Yorkshire Terriers
I'm the breeder behind Northern Odyssey Gun Dogs located in Laporte, MN. We strive for sound bodied and mind dogs with a great disposition that are able to transition well from the field to home life.
About Amielia
We are an avid hunting family, I love hunting birds behind a dog, no better thrill! My husband and I both have full-time jobs and own another business. Our lives are busy with our 3 children, work, dogs, and I am currently going back to college. Our dogs are a huge part of our lives but our not a main source of income, they are a hobby we are passionate about.
What makes Amielia’s program special
We care about our dogs, and who has them. Our pups are very well socialized and our children help us with all our dogs and chores, right down to the whelping process. They are also exposed to birds/wings at a young age. I look for calmer disposition when breeding and particular bloodlines, which i believe have given me some of the best hunting and family companions that a person can ask for.
Amielia is a member of 2 clubs

Our puppies our born and raised in our house. They are exposed to children just about every day. They are taken outside and exposed to the outdoors when old enough and around some of our other dogs when ready. As they get old enough we sometimes take a puppy with us to work or activities we have going on. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Introduced to people of different ages and appearances, Socialized with other dogs, Daily handling, Socialized with children, Car rides, Various sounds, Household Desensitization, and Socialized with Children.
All puppies are dewormed, tails and dews removed, except Chessies tails. They are given the first sets of shots before going to homes, no puppy leaves before 8 weeks of age. All pregnant mothers are also dewormed during pregnancy and after. We also give nuvet plus vitamins to our dogs and require it for the first 6 months in our puppy contracts at this time. We believe if you want us to guarantee the health on your puppy you will have them on this vitamin to ensure they are getting the best and ensure their health.
We send our puppies home with Initial potty training, Registration, Microchip, Food & treats, and Vet records.
Amielia offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Work with a trusted transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.
Why Amielia started breeding
When I was young, my parents had a couple of litters out of our Rottweilers. Once I was grown and married, my husband explained he had always wanted a German Shorthair. We had bought our first 2 Shorthairs from my now good friend. I had done a breeding with one of them. We decided our dog we bred wasn't quite the hunter we were looking for, so we kept a puppy and she became the start of our program.
