I'm the breeder behind Sunstar Kennel located in Moore, SC. We decided to start a responsible, in-home breeding program in order to produce quality hunting dogs that also fit into a home setting. We focus on breeding dogs that have the drive to keep up with our lifestyle, but also have amazing temperaments and can quickly adapt to a calm family setting.

Sunstar Kennel is a Silver Level designated breeder with the Boykin Spaniel Society. The Society of breeders adhere to a strictly enforced health clearance standard and evaluates breeders regularly. As a Silver Level breeder both sides of the breeding program must be health certified and members of the BSS.

Nancy has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $1,000 - $2,500 and include a refundable deposit of $500.
“The price is different for the Labrador Retrievers and the Boykin Spaniel pups. However, amount includes, dew claws removed. Tails docked(Boykin) 1st shots. Worming at all week intervals and socializing, water intro and retrieving first stage. Early Neurological Stimulation Program(ENS). Deposit holds your choice of pup in order deposit is received and confirmed.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Our puppies get socialization exposure and initial retrieving practice. Water introduction when weather permits. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Car rides, Socialized with other dogs, Socialized in new places, Socialized with children, Our puppies are born in a quiet, dark place in our home to allow development until their eyes open, during this time we practice early neurological stimulation and hold pups daily, Touch, pets, and kisses are encouraged during human socialization., surface and tactile stimulation, neural stimulation, Bird Introduction, and Noise desensitization.
All pups are checked by our vet when dew claws are removed.
We send our puppies home with Registration, Vet records, Blanket with mom & littermates’ scent, Puppy starter kit, Food & treats, UKC Registration, BSS Registration, and AKC Registration.
Nancy offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.

Why Nancy started breeding
Originally bred Labrador Retrievers over 25 years. Fell in love with the LBD at the Southeastern Wildlife Expo in Charleston, SC . First pup, Scarlett, started the kennel.
Nancy has been a member of Good Dog for almost 3 years
Nancy was screened for responsible practices and has been a member since 2022.

Zak is AKC, UKC and BSS registered. Excellent bloodline on all sides. Healthy and strong. Favorite past time is sitting in my lap. Very birdie. Great personality...doesn't meet a stranger. Zak has fathered several litters and is all clear in his health certifications. Soft waves and curls when his hair is long. Loves to be groomed. Excellent swimmer and retriever. She has tons of drive and never quit attitude. GiGi has been trained by 2 Pros and each commented on her excellent marking ability. In addition to her hunt test titles GiGi has competed in field trial “qualifying stakes” and has been awarded 2 Jams, She is an outstanding hunting companion.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
