Meet the breeder

I'm Joanah J., the breeder behind Moonlight Kennels LLC located in Elloree, SC. Joanah Jones of Moonlight Kennels LLC is a faithful family breeder raising healthy, intelligent Labrador Retrievers with care, testing, and devotion, giving each puppy the best start as a loyal companion, therapy partner, or hunting partner.

Q. & A. with Joanah

  • Why did you start breeding?

My journey began when I met Max, my husband’s duck hunting partner. Max was the best companion we ever had, and his legacy inspired me to begin breeding Labradors. What started as a passion has grown into a program recognized by AKC Breeder of H.E.A.R.T. and trusted by families across the country. I love the devotion and temperament of the labs over most other breeds and their devotion to family.
  • What makes your program special?

Moonlight Kennels LLC raises Labrador Retrievers with health, devotion, and family at the heart of our program. Through OFA and genetic testing, balanced pedigrees, and hands‑on care, we ensure puppies grow into loyal companions, therapy partners, or hunting partners. Breeding is our calling, rooted in faith, giving each puppy the best start in life.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black, chocolate, and yellow. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Joanah was a dream to work with! She is so responsive and keeps you updated as the puppies grow! I’ve had my puppy for a week and it has been such a wonderful experience. She even seemed to have a grasp on potty training and was so well socialized before I even picked her up. I can’t recommend Joanah enough! I hope to work with her again in the future.

Our experience has been wonderful. Joanah was always quick to answer with thorough advice when asked. Pick up was super easy and she provided us with a lot of great starter items like a blanket and toy with mom’s scent, some treats, a bag of the puppy food she was used to, and all the information we could need. Our little girl Riley is a fantastic pup. She’s such a sweetheart, eager to please, extremely smart, very gentle and very beautiful. Excellent breeder, great experience.

Max is loving his new home he’s settling in very well and he’s definitely the most handsome boy EVER!! This easy process is all thanks to Joanah. She was amazing. I stumbled across the good dog website one random morning searching for my new best friend. I texted her about inquiry for a puppy and she responded almost immediately. She was super knowledgeable about the breed and kept me updated with photos and videos every week of my sweet baby boy!! i was so lucky to have found such a great litter so close to me which was one of my biggest worries…having to travel with a 8 week old puppy! My boyfriend and I are in love with our Maxy boy and would 100% go through her again to gift max a new little best friend :)
