I'm the breeder behind Andrew Spiegel located in Chester, MD. We love our Shelties like family members. We raise them to be pets and companions for others who want loyal and loving animals in their homes and lives.
About Andrew
I grew up with dogs and other animals that have always been part of the family. I've raised 8 kids who are now grown and focus on my pack of Shelties. Years ago we began adding Shelties and have bred them occasionally over the past 8 years. Two of my girls have been spayed after 4 litters each and i stopped breeding for several years. Our Shelties are more family than pets and we only breed them as a way to share this wonderful breed with others. Nova, our Sable girl and Adiley, our tricolor girl, have retired from breeding after having four litters. They're enjoying life as queens of the household. We added Luna, a Blue Merle, to the family in January, 2023, and are currently contemplating whether or not to breed again.
What makes Andrew’s program special
Our dogs live with us, sleep with us, play with us, and go on vacation with us. We raise companions and friends, not commodities. I will not ship my puppies by air and I need to meet their future families before I will let them go. Until they are adopted, our puppies are raised with both parents and their human family.

Our puppies are raised with both their parents and their humans. As early as possible, they begin taking walks with their parents to get acquainted with all the stimuli outside our home and yard. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Leash Walking, Name recognition , Potty training, crate training, Human Interactions , Socialized with Children, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Toys, e.g. Ball, and Chew, e.g. Bone.
All of our puppies receive their first vaccinations and deworming around 6 weeks old, and a general wellness examination by our veterinarian. We also include in our contract a health guarantee for our puppies.
We send our puppies home with AKC Registration, Food Starter Bag, Vaccinations, and Toy with Mom's Scent.

Why Andrew started breeding
We got Nova 5 years ago at 8 weeks old. We all fell in love with her immediately and decided we needed a second Sheltie. 6 months later, we had Cosmo. Again, instant love. Since neither had been spayed or neutered, and I had people asking for puppies if I ever bred them, and we all really wanted other people to experience the joy of Shelties, I did my research and let them breed.
Andrew has been a member of Good Dog for about 5 years
