I'm the breeder behind Aster Creek Dachshunds located in Windom, MN. Our dogs are bred to the AKC and UKC standards to the best of our ability. Temperament and Health are very important to us, as well as conformation. A whole package is what we aim for in our program. Our dogs are bred to have drive that is native to the breed as well as loving family pets.
About Shelby
We are passionate animal lovers, and I work part-time at a vet clinic, allowing me to take my dogs to work with me and ensure they always get top-notch care as needed. Melissa is a retired special education teacher, now a stay-at-home mom to her autistic son and the dogs. Animals have always been our passion and I use that to ensure my dogs are raised to the highest standard.
What makes Shelby’s program special
Our puppies are raised in our homes with many hands-on. We use protocols from the program called Puppy Culture, Avidog, and many others. This helps make for well-rounded puppies so that they can leave me and become great companions for their new families. We raise our dogs to fit the breed standard to the best of our ability, taking in mind the need for health, drive, and temperament.

Learning to accept being brushed is so important for these kiddos. While they don't need a ton of grooming, its always important that they aren't resistant or scared of being combed and brushed! Little Snickers was perfectly content with it after getting his nails done. 💛🌻🐶🐾

Rory babies are finally at the one week mark and thriving, even our littlest guy. She let me actually take them from the nest for longer than a couple of seconds and we got some really good snuggles in.

We make sure to get plenty of snuggles in, but nightly snuggles before bed are super important for these littles and honestly for us too! Such a, serotonin boost 💛🐶🐾

Shelby has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $2,200 - $3,000 and include a non-refundable deposit of $300.
“All our puppies are the same price regarding gender and color. The only difference is the titles of the parents. Pet puppies generally go for $2200-2500, $2600-$3000 for full rights. The Deposit is non-refundable unless something happens to the puppy while in my care. At this point we will refund deposit or allow you to transfer to another litter. Please ask me any questions.”
Shelby may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Shelby offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Shelby directly.
Using protocols from Puppy Culture and Avidog, our puppies go through a week by week process of socializing, training, confidence building, and temperament testing to ensure they are well rounded. We have many people and animals in our home that also help puppies get used to different ages, genders and various other possible farm and household pets. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Socialized with other animals, Introduced to people of different ages and appearances, Socialized with other dogs, Daily handling, Scent introduction, Socialized in new places, Socialized with children, Surface & tactile stimulation, Car rides, Various sounds, Positive exposure to surfaces/objects/sounds/scents, Early Scent Stimulation, Leash Walking, "No" Biting or Chewing, Clicker Training, Crate Training, Sit Command, Potty Training, Biosensor Training, Socialized with Children, Socialized with Cats, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Other Animals, Socialized with Elderly, Sound Stimulation, Household Desensitization, Grooming Desensitization, Early Neurological Stimulation, Touch Desensitization, Toys, e.g. Ball, Chew, e.g. Bone, and Structures, e.g. Climbing.
My puppies are given a DAPP at 8 weeks, DAPP at 12 weeks, and DAPP every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks old. They are given at my work by a licensed Veterinarian. We deworm them every 2 weeks starting at two weeks of age. Before going home all puppies are given a wellness check at the vet to ensure everything is good and they are all set to start their new adventures.
We send our puppies home with Microchip, Initial potty training, Food & treats, Vet records, Basic obedience & manners, Registration, Blanket with Littermates Scent, Breed Club Registration, Food Starter Bag, Certificate of Health, Vaccinations, Puppy Collar, and Puppy Leash.
Shelby offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Work with a trusted flight nanny or transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.
Why Shelby started breeding
Co-breeder duo, Shelby and Melissa. Both of us have spent all of our lives being raised around and raising dogs ourselves. Melissa used to breed Persians and Shiba Inu. Shelby was always raised with Dachshunds and a few other various other breeds as pets. This built a strong love for our dogs and a desire to continue spreading that love through breeding dogs for other people to welcome home.

About Perrin
Perrin is a goofy, fun-loving boy. He loves to please his people and loves to make me laugh. Big snuggle bug! Beautiful dog with a wonderful build for being a cream. I am thankful to have this male in my program. The true leader and patriarch of the pack, Perrin never fails to look out for his girls and the puppies that are born into this house. He loves babies so much and is the first to introduce them to playing gently with other dogs. We are currently working toward his AKC championship. This stud resides with Shelby.

About Trouble
Shaded red female. Trouble is both a lover and a fighter. What I mean by that is she is the biggest snuggle-bug. She loves to just lay in your lap and be cuddled and pet, but she also has a spicy side to her that is hilarious to watch. She loves traveling and is our best hiking and walking companion. Always on the go if we let her. This female resides with Shelby.

About Jade
Jade was affectionately called "the whale" when she was a baby because she was so pudgy and laid-back that all she did was "whale" around. She is so incredibly sweet and laid back. This dog wouldn't hurt a flea and I sincerely mean that. We are incredibly happy to co-own her with our co-breeder. Bred in my home but generally resides with them. This female resides with Melissa.

About Taro
AKC Champion sable longhair female. She is spunky and fun, always keeping us on our toes. She has amazing instincts and a beautiful willingness to please her people. Now retired, Taro resides in a home with a past puppy buyer and her daughter Lily. She is such a good girl and we knew that she deserved the life of being a spoiled pet where she had little to no competition. We didn't take this decision lightly and it was really hard to consider placing her but at the end of the day, I must do what is right for these dogs and not always me. Taro was a true foundation for my pack and what I want for my program going forward.
