I'm the breeder behind Austerlitz German Shepherds located in Sand Springs, OK. We are a legacy breeder of German Shepherd Dogs for over 25 years and an AKC Breeder of Merit.

  • About Susanne

    I have been actively involved in training and showing dogs since 1988 and the German Shepherd since 1991, but have been a dog lover my entire life. I am also the owner of Clickety Split Dog Training where we offer e learning courses for the new puppy owner as well as classes and coaching for breeders.

When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices range from $3,000 and include a non-refundable deposit of $500.

Deposits are accepted only once the puppies are born, there is no deposit required to be placed on the wait list, and deposits are only requested if a puppy matching your needs is available.”

What's included

Enrichment and socialization

For detailed information on how we raise our puppies visit this page (https://austerlitzshepherds.com/puppies/how-we-raise-our-puppies/ ) We follow the Puppy Culture protocols which include socializing with strangers - usually 4 formal visits and several informal visits before send-offs. We also do extensive enrichment - both passive environmental enrichment and active training enrichment. We give new owners instructions on how to continue this training, as well as to continue the crate training and house training we have started. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Leash Walking, Potty Training, Crate Training, Clicker Training, Manding, Puppy Culture Protocols, Socialized with Cats, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Other Animals, Socialized with Elderly, Household Desensitization, Grooming Desensitization, Early Neurological Stimulation, Touch Desensitization, Toys, e.g. Ball, Chew, e.g. Bone, Sound Stimulation, Scents, and Structures, e.g. Climbing.

Puppy health practices

For detailed information on how we raise our puppies please visit the website (https://austerlitzshepherds.com/puppies/whatsetsusapart/) Our puppies are dewormed 4 times before placement as recommended by the AVMA guidelines. Puppies are vaccinated at 8 weeks with a 5-Way combo shot. Puppies visit the vet at 8 weeks to receive a check-up and a report of this is sent with the new family. The puppies are microchipped and we pay the lifetime enrollment fee. .

Extras

We send our puppies home with AKC Registration, Food Starter Bag, Microchip, Toy with Littermates' Scent, Blanket with Littermates Scent, Bone, Clicker, Treats, and Training resources.

  • Why Susanne started breeding

    I originally started my breeding program to cater to dog sport trainers, however, our program has grown from this to specialize in breeding exceptional companion dogs. The goal of our program is to breed adaptable modern companion dogs - not a specialist in sport or show.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
