I'm the breeder behind Big Blue Barn located in Durand, MI. We love this breed and do everything we can to help it thrive. We give each of our dogs and puppies the best care that we can. It is such an honor to preserve the line of these incredible dogs all the while creating companionship for others. This is where amazing temperament, intelligence, and beauty meet! We follow all OFA and AWPGA standards. There are six shown as 3 have been sold but not yet chosen. Two males and one of the females are still available.
Q. & A. with Larry
Why did you start breeding?
After meeting Karen Cate a breeder that has shown and repeatedly won at Westminster and learning everything I needed to do to become a good breeder and follow OFA guidelines and getting DNA test through Embark and NAVHDA I found that my pair were a perfect match to mate. Addy is from Houghton lake Michigan and Buddy is from Oregon. We have had five beautiful litters with several great hunters as well as family companions from those litters. We currently have three puppies available from her fifth and last litter.
What makes your program special?
The care I take to vet the families I choose to sell to is one thing as I demand the best care for my pups. My mentorship from Karen is key I have the best advice to make sure the breed standards are kept pure. I guarantee lifetime support by creating Facebook pages for each litter to stay in touch with me. I practice sensation techniques with pups at two days old until sold touching feet, ears, nose, etc to get them used to being groomed and so on. Also I get them used to noises for gin training and lots of handling to familiarize and make them comfortable with people. etc.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include brown and gray and chestnut and gray. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
