I'm the breeder behind Black and Tan Tail Feathers located in Indianapolis, IN. We are passionate about our breed and want all our puppies to find happy, loving, and active homes. Our dogs are field-bred with good hunting lines. Not a hunter? That's fine, our dogs make wonderful family pets. They are bred for health and temperament with a focus on athleticism and intelligence. They are very active and need space to run, they can also be a little too smart for their own good which, of course, makes for very entertaining companions!
About Tom
My wife and I got our first Gordon Setter four years ago because I wanted a dog to hunt birds with. We have fallen completely in love with this breed and treat them as part of our family. If you have never seen one in action there is nothing quite like seeing your dog going "birdy" and on point. Their tails are gorgeous and make a beautiful display.
What makes Tom’s program special
Our breeding program is special because we do not have a kennel full of dogs where multiple litters are born in one year causing too much of an influx in the market. We also offer our puppies tons of enriching activities and opportunities for socialization before they go to their forever homes to ensure an even temperament.

Why Tom started breeding
We got into breeding Gordons almost two years later after getting our male three years ago. The reason we decided to breed these dogs was because they are not common and we had a hard time finding puppies near us so we thought there could be more people out there like us who wanted a Gordon but couldn't find one near them.
