Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Blooming Bichons located in Aransas Pass, TX. Our program has produced excellent show ring and performance dogs, but we’re equally proud of all the dogs that we’ve placed in loving homes as family companions.

Rhonda’s experience

  • About Rhonda

I am a small hobby breeder with excellent health testing done on all breed dogs. I have been breeding since 2019, and placed many happy pups into the loving arms of their humans. I am a retired Nurse Practitioner in women's health care which has been a leap into breeding, whelping and nutrition for breeding animals. My husband is the best kennel help anyone could ever get!

  • What makes Rhonda’s program special

I believe that if you want a Bichon, there are usually the traits of this breed that draws you to it. It could be the thick white coat, black eyes and nose, or their gentle, fun personality, and their need to need you, and have you need them! So I breed for the breed standard, both for size and character, temperament, and health. I am here for you for any questions, and have a health guarantee .

What's included

Enrichment and socialization

Our puppies are well socialized, being raised in the center of our home. The expeierences begin when they are born, and held by humans daily, and attended to by their mother 24/7 until she starts sleeping outside thier pen. The stimulation starts just as gentle holding, as thier eyes open at 2 weeks old, there are fun things to look at in the whelping box, and when the ears open at 3 weeks of age, the music boxes, and toys for auditory stimulation are added to the area. The puppy pen is the fun house for these pups for all the time they are with us, we are constantly changing up the toys to entertain them in all ways imaginable. They are let loose under our careful eyes to play with the other dogs, and investigate their surroundings, stretching their legs and romping and running! Tactile stimulation, steps, slides, tunnels, and the like are a regular part of the day. The puppy area has a metal dog crate they tend to get together in for naps, and that conditioning helps later with the crate training after they leave us. We also subscribe to the litter box for puppies, containing paper pellet litter. This is introduced around 4 weeks, and by the time they are ready to leave us, they all are about 98% trained. We regularly give bathes, nail trims, scissor and clippers for their grooming needs, and they are accustomed to those necessary things in a Bichons life. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Introduced to people of different ages and appearances, Socialized with other dogs, Daily handling, Surface & tactile stimulation, Various sounds, Socialized with children, Potty Training, Human Interactions , Grooming and Nail Care, Puppy temperament evaluation , We start crate training, Early socialization, surface and tactile stimulation, Noise desensitization, Litter Box Trained, Doggy door training , and "No" Biting or Chewing.

Puppy health practices

All of our puppies are dewormed, vaccinated according to usual puppy protocol for the age, microchipped and lifetime registration with Reunite, weighed regularly, coat cleaned and nails trimmed, as well as around the eyes. They have been thoroughly examed by our vet around 7 weeks.

Extras

We send our puppies home with Food & treats, Blanket with mom & littermates’ scent, Registration, Microchip, Vet records, Toys, Puppy starter kit, Initial potty training, and Basic obedience & manners.
