I'm the breeder behind Bluegrass Bloodhounds located in Leitchfield, KY. We are a 30 acre family owned and operated training and breeding facility, located on the banks of Rough River in Central Kentucky. We produce high drive, problem-solving bloodhounds, available to domestic and international working homes and law enforcement.
About Judy
My name is Judy Braun and I am the owner of Bluegrass Bloodhounds. We love this breed so much and believe they make the addition to any family. Our pups also provide amazing talents for law enforcement, due to their incredible gift of finding people who are lost or hiding.
What makes Judy’s program special
Before a canine is admitted into the breeding program, it must illustrate proper temperament and confirmation (according to the American Kennel Club's breed standard), be a working dog and have health clearances.

Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $1,500 - $2,500 and include a refundable deposit of $500.
Judy may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Judy offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Judy directly.
We potty train our puppies. They all go to working homes and our last litter all went to law enforcement. I utilize the following enrichment methods: We practice Puppy Culture, a program that conditions your puppy with early neurological stimulation and socializing techniques that reduce stress and fear for the development of a healthy, happy puppy, Socialized with Children, Basic Obedience Commands, odor imprinting , Man trailing , and Potty Training.
All puppies are vaccinated, dewormed, and seen by a licensed veterinarian before going to their new homes.
Your puppy may come with extra benefits, like a small bag of food or a toy carrying the scent of their littermates. While Bluegrass Bloodhounds hasn’t shared specifics yet, we encourage you to reach out directly to learn what thoughtful extras they may include to help your puppy transition comfortably into their new home.
Judy offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Work with a trusted flight nanny or transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.
Why Judy started breeding
Edna Miller was the victim of a missing person's case back in 2001. This is rural Kentucky, there should have been a plethora of tracking dogs. My husband and I took it upon ourselves to provide the service to the community. Ms. Miller's disappearance and resulting death from a lack of resources changed my life forever. It is in her memory that we dedicate our service to strive in bringing the legend back to the Bluegrass.
Judy has been a member of Good Dog for over 5 years
Judy was screened for responsible practices and has been a member since 2019.
