I'm the breeder behind Brookmont Portuguese Podengo Pequenos located in Marietta, GA. I have been involved in the world of purebred dogs for well over forty years now, both in obedience, theory work, and conformation. In 2011 I met this cute little scruffy thing they called a Portuguese Podengo Pequeno and instantly fell in love. All of our puppies are raised to be happy, healthy dogs, whether for the conformation ring or just family pets.
About Rose
I began as a Humane Shelter Director, went into Obedience and then into Conformation before becoming a breeder of purebred dogs. During this time I have tried to learn as much as I can about dog genetics, health, temperament and the purpose for which my chosen breed was bred for.
What makes Rose’s program special
Research is what makes our breeding program special. We research the pedigrees, health records, and backgrounds of all the dogs we breed. We want to make sure they fit into our breeding program for the betterment of the breed.
Rose has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $1,500 - $2,500.
Rose may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Rose offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Rose directly.
We have toys for them to play with before they are old enough to go out into the world. After they have had their second puppy shot we start taking them almost everywhere we can. We do MTB, Puppy Match's, Dog Shows, Home Depot & Lowe's and anywhere there might be children. We try to make this as enjoyable and fun for the puppies as we can, but nothing is forced on them. We let the puppies determine how interactive they want to be with new experiences. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Basic Manners and Socialized with Children.
We use Dr. Jean Dobb's protocol for our worming and vaccinations. We microchip all dogs before they leave our home, and have them registered with AKC Reunite. All puppies are checked by our vet one last time before leaving for their new homes.
Your puppy may come with extra benefits, like a small bag of food or a toy carrying the scent of their littermates. While Brookmont Portuguese Podengo Pequenos hasn’t shared specifics yet, we encourage you to reach out directly to learn what thoughtful extras they may include to help your puppy transition comfortably into their new home.
Rose offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Work with a trusted flight nanny or transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.
Why Rose started breeding
I got into breeding with Irish Setters as I wanted to improve what I was seeing in the world. As a breeder it is my obligation to the breed, to improve on the qualities of the standard, to make better dogs for the next generation of dog breeders, and to improve the life and health of the dogs I breed.
Rose has been a member of Good Dog for about 5 years
Rose was screened for responsible practices and has been a member since 2019.
