I'm the breeder behind Cottonwood Maltese located in Bennettsville, SC. We breed both partial Korean and full Korean maltese. Our maltese are bred for beauty, and through socialization starting at birth- temperament. We breed exotic colored Yorkie’s as well. We have all colors and breed our dogs to get the smaller size without sacrificing health in our Maltese Yorkies and Morkies. Our average size is 4-5 pounds. I started breeding Maltese and Yorkie’s to improve the breed and match puppy to owner. Through Good Dog we help eliminate the possibility of a scams by others.

About Deborah
I worked as a vet tech years before they required you to be licensed and moved on from there to be a registered nurse. I have been breeding since 1988 and believe in good care, nutrition and love for all my dogs. They are my pets first and breeding animals last. We put a lot of love and time into puppies and talk with potential buyers for the right fit. We don’t just sell dogs, we gain family!
What makes Deborah’s program special
Our puppies get socialization from birth. They are handled and exposed to the things that they will encounter in a home. Through positive reinforcement our puppies are often pee pad trained when they leave our home. We believe in good nutrition and good vet care as well. We want to find the best homes for our puppies. We offer a 1 year limited guarantee.
Getting a puppy from Deborah
Deborah has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices range from $1,500 - $4,000 and include a non-refundable deposit of $500.
“There is a 1 year limited guarantee. You get food, blanket (with mom and siblings scent) and toy that they all have played with. As well as registration. Deposit is $500. This is non refundable but if certain circumstances happen such as serious illness, or injury we will transfer it to another litter.”

What's included
Enrichment and socialization
We start on day one exposing the puppy to our scent as well as moms. They get more enrichment as they grow. When they start walking, I start waking each puppy up from its nap and letting it use the bathroom on the pee pads gently turning the puppy back if it wanders off the pad. I rub the and when they start to hear, I praise them. Positive reinforcement training only! I utilize the following enrichment methods: Socialized with children, surface and tactile stimulation, neural stimulation, Puppy pads , Noise desensitization, Behavioral shaping , Potty pads,, Car Training , Basic manners, Crate Training, "No" Biting or Chewing, Potty Training, Socialized in new places, Introduced to people of different ages and appearances, Socialized with other animals, Socialized with other dogs, Daily handling, Surface & tactile stimulation, Car rides, and Various sounds.
Puppy health practices
Our puppies are healthy and happy and have a 1 year limited guarantee. They are examined by a vet and cleared before they go home. No liver shunt issues in our lines.

We send our puppies home with Microchip, Initial potty training, Toys, Food & treats, Vet records, Registration, and Blanket with mom & littermates’ scent.

Why Deborah started breeding
I started with show dogs. First the shar-pei when they were just a national club. Then later showing and breeding wire haired fox terriers. I can no longer show due to a brain tumor that affected my balance. But I love my Maltese.

Deborah’s Maltese puppies include white and tan, white and lemon, and white. Deborah’s Morkie puppies include white and lemon, tan, white, piebald, gold, chocolate, and black. Deborah’s Yorkshire Terrier puppies include chocolate, tan and white, parti, and gold. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Houdini has a fun personality. He likes to flip his toys to me or turn around and kick them with his hind legs. When he plays with his “brother” he will often turn and either hip check or kick him with his hind legs. He likes to sleep curled up in the crook behind my knees. He is very sweet and plays well with any of the puppies we have in our home. He produces small puppies.

About Mia
Mia is an amazing mother. She takes excellent care of her puppies yet has always allowed us access to them and assist her in her birthing process. She loves to play with her puppies as they get older (always gently) and never minds them tugging on her ears or tail. We have to make her stop nursing the pups. When not being a mother her favorite pastime is to play fetch in the hallway or wander around outside when the weather is nice. She is a good dog.

We have TWO amazing Maltese puppies from Deborah, out of the same litter by chance, faith, and maybe a little crazy...funny story....My husband and I had a Maltese for almost 14 yrs ...
