Downonda Farm's English Cockers

Cindy S.

Certified Breeder of English Cocker Spaniels

Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Downonda Farm's English Cockers located in Ashley, OH. My focus in English Cocker Spaniel breeding is companions with temperament and soundness. I do all screenings and provide a stimulating environment. I am passionate about the English Cocker Spaniel breed and do everything I can as a breeder to ensure I am producing the happiest, well-loved, and well-rounded dogs.

Q. & A. with Cindy

  • Why did you start breeding?

Breeding is a huge responsibility. I am a teacher and nurturer. I saw lots of puppies with confidence and temperament issues. I wondered if it was nature or nurture issues. I wanted to launch my own program making sure both sides were given proper attention to reach optimum temperament results. Those first few weeks are so critical to the long term happiness of the dog and ultimately the owner.
  • What makes your program special?

I focus on little details that other breeders may not consider. I not only study pedigrees and coefficients and suggested line-breeding vs outcrossing in choosing sires but also inquire about personalities and livability at home. They are companions much longer than they are show dogs. I'm breeding show dogs and life-long companions. It's more than just a pretty face to produce a quality dog.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home, guardian homes, and a kennel on my property.
