I'm the breeder behind Duendera Cardigans located in Colorado Springs, CO. There is nothing like a Cardigan. Intelligent yet stubborn, biddable but creative, silly and serious, loyal and loving beyond measure. Our program is built on the generations of breeders that have come before us to preserve the legacy of this extraordinary breed.
About Sarah
I have a passion for inclusion, diversity, and equity. I aspire to help individuals be the good people their dogs know they are. We are new breeders awaiting our first litter after 6 years of study, and we hope to connect with families who want more than "just a pet".
What makes Sarah’s program special
I am blessed to have so many fantastic mentors to model my program after. From public engagement to a lifelong involvement with puppy families, recruiting and retaining passionate owners, studying pedigrees, and honest learning and critique from other breeders. We ask ourselves not what we get out of one dog, but the legacy of love we are hoping to give our children 100 years from now.

I have developed my own secret sauce that integrates principles and activities from Avidog, Puppy Culture, protocols I’ve learned from Guide Dogs for the Blind puppy raising, and input from herding oriented breeders for stock exposure. I have my plan, but keep notes to make changes as required and make sure every puppy is getting the individualized socialization and training they need. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Socialized with Children, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Other Animals, Socialized with Elderly, Sound Stimulation, Household Desensitization, Grooming Desensitization, Early Neurological Stimulation, Touch Desensitization, Toys, e.g. Ball, Chew, e.g. Bone, Scents, Structures, e.g. Climbing, Stores, Noises , Strangers, Various Surfaces , Fireworks , Outdoors, e.g. rain, Puppy Culture , Car Rides, Avidog, Outdoors (when Weather permits), Crate Training , Leash Training, Rules of 7, Social, Noises, Texture Stimulation, Exposure to Agility Tunnel and Wobble Board, and Sign Language.
We do a deworming treatment every 2 weeks from week 2-16. All puppies are microchipped before leaving and will have had at least 2 well puppy visits. They will be screened for hearing and BAER tested at the recommendation of the vet.
We send our puppies home with Blanket with Littermates' and Mom's scents, Food Starter Bag, Microchip, Vaccinations, and Volhard Personality Test.
Sarah offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Work with a trusted flight nanny or transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.
Why Sarah started breeding
After a lifelong admiration for all breeds, we decided that the Cardigan fulfilled all of our hopes and dreams. Breeding was the last thing we were interested in doing until my puppy’s breeder told me that everyone who loves their Corgi owes it to them to contribute in some way to the future of the breed. I decided I needed to do my part, and here we are.
