I'm the breeder behind Great Lakes Poodles located in Tawas City, MI. Our breeding program started with one small litter that turned into a fulfilling, lifelong passion! We believe there’s no greater joy than providing families with a loving canine companion. Our dogs are bred for health, temperament, and intelligence. Many of our poodles are trained as service dogs.
About Wynne
My name is Wynne Erickson and I am the inspiration behind Great Lakes Poodles. I am a retired high school teacher; my certification is in art, English, and social studies. I love to research. As the only miniature and moyen poodle breeder in Northeastern Lower Michigan, my goal is to breed poodles that have great structure, outgoing temperaments and an interesting coat (void of merle coat).
What makes Wynne’s program special
Our poodles have had their DNA tested through UC Davis and PawPrint Genetics. None of our dogs are carriers for commonly known disorders. Tests have been done on eyes, hips, and elbows. All of my dogs have been tested and scored for diversity. When considering any dog, it is best to research and ask questions. I am happy to share what I have learned.

About Yooper
Sooper Yooper is all about treats (she likes all food) and play. Her favorite past time is tag with other dogs or people. She is super loyal to her people; she greets us quickly with a wag and a head but in our legs. But if she has a litter of puppies, it's all about them. She is a steady and true friend and we are glad to have her. Registration is AKC.

About Mac
Majestic Mackinac is a beautiful brown phantom boy. He's a spunky character. Alert. Swims. The first time we thought he was big enough to go back by our pond he swam across it. It's not a small pond; I was astounded. He still goes to the pond every chance he gets for a swim. And oh, his nose! He sniffed out a bunny nest that was on the side of our big sled hill. I got there to intervene while he stood still with one squirming in his mouth--it wasn't injured. He was just holding it. Mama bunny moved her nest that night!

About Sugar
Introducing our Sugar Loaf Mountain! She's a mountain of fluff; her coat is extra thick and wooly. Sugar learns fast and loves her people--often giving us kisses during nighttime snuggles. She only barks when she wants to go outside.

About Deter
Introducing Detroit Fire! We call him Deter for short. This miniature red male is amazing in structure and temperament. He has the long legs and beautiful almond-shaped eyes. His temperament is one where he LOVES to be by his people. He is ready for adventure whether it is a hike or simply watching what we are doing. He gets along with everyone--including our cat. We couldn't ask for a nicer poodle.

About Benzie
Beloved Benzie is a beauty to behold. I really like tuxedo marked poodles. They are a parti poodle who got blessed with an extra big "spot" that covers their body and looks like they are wearing a jacket over a white shirt. Benzie is our girl from Solace and Petosky. She is inquisitive and a rule follower--she doesn't test boundaries with us.
Poodle
About Leland
Introducing Leland who is famously named for the beautiful city Leland and the Leelanau County in Michigan. He has impeccable structure, clear genetics, and a winning personality. Leland is such a loyal poodle; he thrives best when he is with his humans. Poodles in general love to be by their people, so much so, that I tell people poodles aren't runners. They don't want to leave the yard because that also means leaving their person. That's unthinkable to a poodle.
