I'm the breeder behind Hayat Salukis located in Cameron, NC. I am a hobby breeder of Salukis with a focus primarily on the conformation ring, but my dogs also lure course and do other fun sports. Please note that I do not place puppies by color preference and I do not breed temperaments that are typically suitable to service dog homes.
About Lauren
I am a hobby/show breeder of high-quality Salukis. It is important to me to preserve diversity as well as type, function, good temperament, and health in the breed. I do not produce a litter unless each of my parent dogs are fully healthy and excellent representations of the standard.
What makes Lauren’s program special
I am purposeful in everything that I do regarding my dogs, which includes careful selection of breeding dogs and extensive health testing. My goal is to produce healthy dogs with great temperaments that are exemplary representations of the breed.

Lauren has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $2,500 - $3,000 and include a refundable deposit of $500.
“I keep my price along with the typical price of a well bred individual of this breed. I ask for a deposit upon the matching of a puppy to a family, i.e, there is a puppy for you in this litter. This deposit will not be taken before 6 weeks of age.”
Lauren may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Lauren offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Lauren directly.
I use early neurological stimulation and expose puppies to a variety of people and environments before they go home. I take them out alone and together so they can get used to the car and other places. I expose them to crates and potty pads. Puppies hear lots of regular household sounds as well as outdoor sounds including guns and fireworks before going home. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Socialized with other animals, Introduced to people of different ages and appearances, Socialized with other dogs, Daily handling, Scent introduction, Socialized in new places, Socialized with children, Surface & tactile stimulation, Car rides, Various sounds, gun shots, Outdoors (when Weather permits), Various Surfaces , Strangers, Toys, e.g. Ball, Household Desensitization, Grooming Desensitization, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Grooming and Nail Care, Early socialization, Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) , surface and tactile stimulation, Potty pads,, and Basic manners.
Puppies are taken to the vet for a checkup, and if a cardiologist is accessible the puppies will be auscultated as well. Puppies from certain litters may be bile acid tested for liver shunts.
We send our puppies home with Puppy starter kit, Vet records, Microchip, Registration, Blanket with mom & littermates’ scent, Toy with Littermates' Scent, AKC Registration, Blanket with Mom's Scent, Blanket with Littermates Scent, Puppy Leash, Puppy Collar, Microchipped , and Vaccinations.

Why Lauren started breeding
I grew up going to dog shows, and the Saluki always stood out to me as a breed that I wanted to own one day. I have also always been fascinated with genetics and breeding, and it was destiny for me to eventually end up breeding my own dogs. I have a deep interest in breed preservation especially of rare and declining breeds.
Lauren has been a member of Good Dog for almost 4 years
