I'm the breeder behind LongMile Aussies located in Elgin, OR. We have registered purebred Miniature and Toy Aussies. Our dogs are a part of our family here at the ranch. The goal we set and which I believe is still the most important, is to produce healthy puppies that make a well-rounded character in an adult dog. Sometimes the most ordinary things can be made extraordinary simply by doing them with an Aussie.
Q. & A. with STACY
Why did you start breeding?
I have had dogs all my life. When it came time to replace a Golden Retriever that had passed, I became aware of new genetic health testing. I was excited to discover a way to selectively breed for healthy pups as well as coat and color to help ensure the next generations have the best possible life.
What makes your program special?
I keep it small so the dogs all have a normal life as part of the family. I evaluate and show my dogs to make sure they are of high quality prior to breeding. Health testing ensures a healthy dog, conformation ensures a good presentation of the breed, but temperament is so important and really needs the test of time to make sure nice, smart dogs continue forward in my lines.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies are miniature size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Australian Shepherd puppies include red merle and blue merle. Toy Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle and red merle. Miniature Australian Shepherd puppies include blue merle, red merle, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Good level
LongMile Aussies reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for Australian Shepherds.
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
