I'm the breeder behind Onnellinen Kennels Lapponian Herders located in Hunt, NY. We love to responsibly raise and train our puppies so they have the tools to be well-rounded, beloved family members. We care so much about each of our dogs and make sure to find our puppies the perfect families and individuals with lifestyles that will complement this amazing breed.

About Christopher
My wife and I have 7 children ages 12- on the way. Full time, I work as an OR scrub RN and my wife is a homeschool mom and homemaker. We live on an 8 acre parcel near Letchworth State Park, in Livingston county NY.
What makes Christopher’s program special
We have 7 children, 30 chickens, 14 rabbits, 4 turkeys, 2 cats; a Guinea pig and a Cockatiel named Pepin. Our puppies are well socialized and have a lot of exposure to other animals and experiences. We work our pups through the puppy culture program to help ensure they are well adjusted and capable dogs that will be a joy to work and live with.
Getting a puppy from Christopher
Christopher has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices range from $1,200 - $1,500 and include a non-refundable deposit of $500.
“Prices are for limited and full registration. Registration through UKC and AKC. Puppies will have health certificate, first vaccinations, deworming and microchip. All pertinent information pertaining to fees and guarantees is covered in our puppy contracts. No monies will be exchanged without first; a conversation, and second; a signed contract.”

What's included
Enrichment and socialization
Our puppies start with ENS and continue through the Puppy Culture protocol as they progress. They are socialized from birth in a home with multiple children, pets and our poultry and rabbits. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Explore outside, handled daily introduced to sounds touch , Exposure to poultry, Outdoors (when Weather permits), car riding , Puppy Culture , Toys, e.g. Ball, Socialized with Cats, Early Neurological Stimulation, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Children, Manding, ENS, Scent Introduction, Noise desensitization, Litter Box Trained, Car Training , Puppy Culture , and Clicker Training.
Puppy health practices
All puppies will have veterinarian health certificate, first vaccinations, deworming and microchip before going to new home.

We send our puppies home with puppy culture, Food Starter Bag, Microchipped , Puppy Collar, Early Neurological Stimulation, Vaccinations, and Certificate of Health.
Bringing your puppy home

Pick up your puppy in Hunt, NY or nearby
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Get your puppy dropped off to you
Work with a trusted flight nanny or transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at an airport or meeting point close to home.

Why Christopher started breeding
We had done a lot of searching for a dog that would fit our family needs, as well as, our need for a guardian for our poultry and rabbits. We came across the LH breed and immediately fell in love. They have been so good for our family. They are truly a wonderful breed. We love our pups and can’t wait for others to have the opportunity to know and love them too.
Christopher has been a member of Good Dog for about 2 years
Christopher was screened for responsible practices and has been a member since 2023.
Christopher’s program includes two colors
Christopher’s Lapponian Herder puppies include liver and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Glycogen Storage Disease Type II or Pompe's Disease (GSD II), DNA Disease Panel, Multifocal Retinopathy 3 (CMR3), PRA, Rod-Cone Degeneration (PRA-prcd)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
