I'm the breeder behind Raindance Italian Greyhounds located in New York. I am a small, preservation breeder. I am active in showing in conformation. I am focused on breeding healthy dogs with sound temperaments. I try to do everything I can to better the breed in all departments. These dogs deserve nothing but the best chance in life. As a breeder, it is my responsibility to make sure that happens.
About Chelsea
I have been involved in showing Italian Greyhounds for more than twenty years. I have owned and bred many Champions and Grand Champions as well as lure coursing Field Champions and Dual Champions. Litters are planned extremely infrequently, and only with an enormous amount of planning and research for every single combination. Health and temperament are paramount.
What makes Chelsea’s program special
Before any breeding combination is planned, an enormous amount of pedigree research is conducted. I study a minimum of 10 generations behind parents of prospective litters to try and make sure not only am I breeding beautiful dogs that conform to the Italian Greyhound breed standard, but also monitor hereditary issues and temperament problems through ancestry.
Chelsea is a member of 2 clubs

Chelsea has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $2,000 - $2,200 and include a refundable deposit of $500.
“The price includes AKC registration, two rounds of puppy vaccinations, deworming, vet check, microchip, and socialization. The deposit will only be taken once I know for sure a puppy will be available to an applicant.”
Chelsea may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Chelsea offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Chelsea directly.
Puppies are handled from the moment they are born, with a whelping box in my bedroom. They are introduced to new sounds, sights, and challenges as their eyes and ears open and become more adventurous. Once puppies are a little older, visitors are allowed to see the puppies. After the first round of vaccinations has been done I will bring the puppies along to dog events with me to meet new people and investigate new places. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Household Desensitization and Sound Stimulation.
Puppies that leave my home are up to date on parvo/distemper vaccinations, are dewormed several times, and are microchipped. A puppy exam with my veterinarian is done around 8-10 weeks so we can make sure hearts and patellas are normal as well.
We send our puppies home with AKC Registration, Certificate of Health, Vaccinations, Puppy Collar, Microchip, Puppy Leash, and Food Starter Bag.
Chelsea offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
“We don't ship puppies, puppies may be picked up at my home or I may be willing to meet partway at a reasonable distance.”
Why Chelsea started breeding
I began going to dog shows as a teenager originally showing Dobermans. I met my first Italian Greyhound at the home of one of my Doberman breeders. I had no intention of becoming a breeder, but my first Italian Greyhound was a truly exceptional dog and through the guidance of my mentor (the breeder of my first IG), I was taught how to be responsible and breed better dogs.
Chelsea has been a member of Good Dog for over 4 years
