I'm the breeder behind Rich Cat’s located in Gadsden, AL. We responsibly breed, raise, and socialize healthy pups who are intricately woven into our everyday lives. Our adults and pups are a huge part of our family & enjoy freedom on our farm. Our goal is to provide intelligent, beautiful dogs with excellent dispositions that meet the breed standards.

About Jamie
I am a licensed veterinary technician and practice manager. I have been in the veterinary field for 26 years. I am a color genetics nerd and have been raising rare colored American Quarter Horses, and half Arabians for most of my life. I not only breed Catahoula’s, but also cocker spaniels, and miniature Rat Terriers of rare color/patterns.

I am highly committed to preserving the Catahoula as a working dog, but also firmly believe in breeding for disposition, even temperament, and intelligence. I have an extensive background in veterinary medicine and genetics. Our dogs are not only excellent working dogs, but very loving members of our family.

Getting a puppy from Jamie
Jamie has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices range from $650 - $1,500 and include a non-refundable deposit of $350.
“Prices range on Catahoula puppies sold to pet or working home only with no registration vs the higher end for full NALC. I very rarely will sell a puppy with the intention of being a breeding dog. Most of mine go to pet/working homes and I have very little traffic for registered dogs at higher costs. If your seeking a registered puppy please contact me and let me know so I can put you on a list for when I decide to register a litter to retain some for my breeding program. I no longer require a spay and neuter contract due to my inability to have it enforced in other states, but urge all owner for health reasons to spay and neuter. This is going to make for a much better pet and avoid hormonal temperament fluctuations as well. Puppy cost will vary some based on color with unregistered puppies. NALC registered puppies all come with a free microchip for ease of registration. NALC registered pups start at 1250 for solids and up to around 1500 for leopards. All registered pups come with full registration rights. I do not do limited registration at discounted prices. We do not offer registration or breeding rights of any kind with our Cocker Spaniels or Pomeranians. All deposits are non refundable and must be received if you are requesting a specific puppy to mark them on hold and half of the price. Transferable if something happens to the puppy while here.”

What's included
Enrichment and socialization
My puppies are all exposed to children, cats, small dogs and livestock. My dogs are all working livestock guards, but also our personal family pets. My Catahoula’s dispositions are bred to have a bit lower drive than that a straight working line. They are even tempered and make excellent pets for active family homes. Please research the breed and feel free to ask any questions if you have never owned a Catahoula before. They are not for the sedentary life and require firm but fair handlers. They do love to snooze and cuddle in the house. All of my dogs come in the house and behave, but they must have exercise daily. Our cocker spaniels are exposed to the same situations and family/farm life as our Catahoula’s. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Socialized with other animals, Car rides, Various sounds, Socialized with other dogs, Daily handling, Socialized with children, Surface & tactile stimulation, Socialized with Farm Animals, Livestock Exposure, Raised in home with dogs, kids, cats ect, Adult and children socializing , Exposure to poultry, also have lots of friends and family who come over to handle the puppies and help out with the puppies daily. I do not take them to public places to expose them to people as they are not fully vaccinated until 16 weeks. , Toys, e.g. Ball, Outdoors (when Weather permits), Car Rides, Grooming Desensitization, Touch Desensitization, Outdoors, e.g. rain, Household Desensitization, Socialized with Other Animals, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Cats, and Socialized with Children.
Puppy health practices
Pups are vaccinated and receive a health exam prior to being released. I offer a 48 hour guarantee on puppy health beginning when a pup leaves the premises. If they pass away from an illness within that time frame we offer a replacement puppy. If you chose not to take the replacement puppy the purchase amount is forfeited. We are not held responsible for accidents occurring during transport.

We send our puppies home with Microchip, Registration, Puppy starter kit, Food & treats, Vet records, Our puppies are all sent home with welcome home bags and information. , Food Starter Bag, Microchip, and Vaccinations.

…Beautiful blue leopard with glass eyes. One of the best producing female’s I have ever owned. She is such a loving and protective family member. She is one heck of a livestock guard. No one beats her at working female of the year. She takes her job very seriously but is the sweetest girl to our family. She carefully watches over my chickens, children and even our weaned puppies off our other females. Her puppies are gorgeous, always exquisitely colored and highly intelligent. This is one of the original girls that started my lines. She was born and raised here, and there will never be another quite like her. Her mother was a wonderful female named Sugar that was brought to us from a breeder in Louisiana long ago. I retained one daughter and one grandson from her line. She will be entering a well deserved retirement soon and I will greatly miss her puppies.

Gorgeous NALC Chocolate Leopard with glass eyes. He is a super laid back, obedient and loving boy. He is on the larger and taller side. He is wonderful with children and a gentle giant. He is only 3 years old so he has only sired a few litters for me so far and they are absolutely amazing. Even better than I expected. Very impressive young stud who came to us all the way from Kansas. We are very pleased to add him to our breeding program.

Gorgeous dilute red leopard male with green eyes. Wonderful disposition, and he is a huge fella. I expect him to mature around 80 pounds. He is a grandson of Ivy who is my favorite female. Ivy started out my breeding program many years ago and is the best working female I own to this day. Timber is his dam and Gunner his sire. I can not wait to see how this beautiful boy matures, and what he adds to my breeding program in the future. He is extremely doted upon and enjoys sleeping in the bed with my cats and my mini rat terriers as his favorite pastime. :)

This gorgeous dark chocolate female is home bred from my breeding program. She is a tough, athletic, medium sized power house of a female. Excellent working instincts. She is a daughter of one of my favorite females “Twelve” and sired by “Gunner”. This whole litter was phenomenal so I kept her and her sister Panda. She has a solid disposition and one heck of an athlete. She can jump about 6 foot straight in the air from a standstill and catch a mouse ruining across a field in seconds. She is an excellent farm guard and has a lot of natural drive.

Gorgeous dilute red leopard female with one green eye, and one glass eye. She is elegant, athletic, and has a wonderful disposition. She has matured beautifully as I expected and comes from a long line of very skilled tracking dogs. I purchased her as a puppy from a wonderful breeder in Mississippi and couldn’t be more pleased. This one got a bit spoiled as a youngster so she spends most of her days in the house lounging around. She will spring into action in a split second if need be but prefers. She is protective of her loved ones, but also very kind and gentle.

…Gorgeous blue leopard male with brown eyes. This might possibly be the most intelligent dog I’ve ever had. He is a such a good boy. He is a devoted farm hand and family pet. He is my oldest male Catahoula and is always the first one to lend a paw in anything that your doing. He tries to calculate what you need before you even ask. He is wonderful with children and the best chicken guard ever. He will gently help me catch a loose chicken, let my kids climb all over him, or get after a cow without hesitation from a single gesture. He also likes to open doors to let himself in the house and find snacks of any sort and then nap upside down in his crate after :) second favorite pastime is cuddling when he isn’t working. He is a smaller male with medium build but powerful and absolutely fearless. He is calm, gentle, loving and mellow fella when he is off duty and the best babysitter you could ever ask for. He very attentively watches over my kids and our puppies when they are out exploring.
