I'm the breeder behind Riverine Retrievers located in Viroqua, WI. Here at Riverine Retrievers, our goal is to raise the highest quality Labrador Retriever puppies possible. All of our dogs are AKC and UKC Registered. Each of our breedings are looked at in great detail to assure that our puppies will be of great quality and meet the breed standard temperament.
About McKenzie
My love for Labs started at a young age as I grew up showing labs in both obedience and conformation, along with handling dogs while out hunting waterfowl. My long time stepmom is a veterinarian and has been a huge positive influence on our program! We are very passion-driven and our lives literally revolve around our dogs. It’s safe to say we love our dogs and what we do!
What makes McKenzie’s program special
We really care about our dogs and puppies. We make sure to do all the breed-specific health testing and make sure each dog has the correct temperament before we choose to breed. We also raise all our puppies using a lot of the puppy culture protocols which seem to produce more happy and well-rounded puppies.

We raise our puppies with a lot of the Puppy Culture protocols, so we do ENS, introduction to a lot of different textures, sounds, new environments, etc. We also litter train them and start the crate training process. Unfortunately due to living in a high parvo risk area we only allow family and close friends to visit with the puppies before they have their shots and are ready to go home. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Potty Training, Crate Training, Clicker Training, Puppy Culture , Bird Introduction, Socialized with Children, Socialized with Cats, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Sound Stimulation, Household Desensitization, Early Neurological Stimulation, Toys, e.g. Ball, and Puppy Culture .
Our puppies are checked over by our vet at 2 or 3 days old, dewormed at 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks of age. Vet checked again at 7 weeks old- they receive their age-appropriate shots at this appointment. They also get microchipped before going home and we get state-issued health certificates on every puppy who is being taken across our state line.
We send our puppies home with AKC Registration, Certificate of Health, Food Starter Bag, Microchip, Puppy Collar, Toy with Littermates' Scent, Vaccinations, and Puppy Starter Kit.
McKenzie offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
Work with a trusted transporter to get your puppy comfortably dropped off at a meeting point close to home.
Why McKenzie started breeding
My stepmom introduced our family to our first well-bred Labrador Retriever when I was 8 years old and sort of opened a door for me. Being she’s a veterinarian, I had a lot of hands-on experience with the process of breeding and whelping from a young age. As I grew older I started studying pedigrees more and more and when I bought my own home I decided to start my own program.

About Nyufa
Irislav Nobel Queen (Nyufa). Nyufa is a beautiful Black (Yellow Factored) Bench/ Show bred Labrador Retriever who came to us all the way from Ukraine! Nyufa was brought over by us to hopefully show in conformation, unfortunately as beautiful as she is she just isn't into showing. She trains like a dream at home, but once we get to classes she gets bored easily. When in the show ring she goes through the motions but you can tell it's truly not her thing. It's difficult to get her ears up and for her to look like she's out there enjoying herself. Outside of the show ring, Nyufa has quite the personality! She wants to be the center of everyone's attention and has this "look at me" attitude. She is such a happy go lucky dog! Nyufa is also an amazing retriever! She will play fetch for hours! She loves the water and we plan on pursing formal field work with her in the near future. Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Brucellosis
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
D Locus (Dilute) DNA test, PawPrint Genetic Panel (Breed Specific)
