I'm the breeder behind Shepherds Rest Anatolians located in Carlton, OR. I preserve a rare breed of working dog that guards livestock. I import from Turkey to maintain genetic diversity & health. We occasionally breed one of our excellent working Anatolian females with the goal of producing beautiful, healthy, and sound Anatolian Shepherd Dogs with great working potential.
About Chyril
I’m a psychologist as well as a breeder. I love scouting out excellent dogs to import from Turkey and have had the privilege of getting over 30 litter evaluations plus multiple adult dog evaluations done by Pat Hastings!
What makes Chyril’s program special
I’m the only person in the U.S. that has consistently been importing dogs from Turkey over the years! After showing photos of American Anatolian Shepherds to the Turkish people & having them laugh and ask what is that, I have been importing dogs that make the Turkish folks proud!
Chyril is a member of 2 clubs
Anatolian Shepherd Dog Club of America, Anatolian Shepherd Dogs International, Inc.
Chyril has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Puppy prices range from $1,800 - $3,300 and include a refundable deposit of $500.
“Pups on a spay/neuter contract are $1,800.00. Pups on a breeding contract are $2,800.00 to $3,300.00.”
Chyril may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Chyril offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don’t hesitate to reach out to Chyril directly.
I follow most of the Puppy Culture program. At about 7 weeks old, puppies attend a socialization party during which puppies are carefully observed for personality & behavior (eg whether they tried every obstacle & whether they had eye contact with people & readily took treats). This continues the socialization received at home & by visitors. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Crate Training, Sit Command, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Socialized with Other Animals, Sound Stimulation, and Chew, e.g. Bone.
All puppies get 8-week old vet evaluations & their first DAP shots. The deworming protocol is liquid Panacur at 5 & 7 weeks old.
We send our puppies home with Microchip.
Chyril offers options to help you easily get your new puppy home.
If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.
“Families typically pick up puppies at our farm, but occasionally we work with buyers to shop puppies to them.”
Why Chyril started breeding
On a fluke, I adopted a puppy from my goat mentor just after Y2K started. Seeing that dog’s behavior launched me into extensive research of the breed, including studying the working dogs in their native land in remote areas! I then began importing!
Chyril has been a member of Good Dog for about 5 years
Chyril was screened for responsible practices and has been a member since 2019.
