I'm the breeder behind Steadfast Whippets located in Lakewood, OH. Thanks for your interest in acquiring a puppy from us. We are a family that loves whippets as companions and competitors in the ring and coursing field. We are grateful for the guidance of friends who are experienced whippet breeders. We are seeking to use “best practices” in everything we do from the selection of the sire, to health testing, early socialization, and matching puppies with the best possible forever homes.

About Jonathan
We are a family of five including three school-age children. We also operate a guest house for international students. It was important for us to find the perfect breed that fit our lifestyle and the atmosphere of our home. Whippets have proven to be a perfect fit.
What makes Jonathan’s program special
My dogs are an integral part of my family and daily life. This creates the ideal environment for puppies. From birth, they grow in a secure, loving environment that includes living with children. Our plan is to breed an extremely limited number of litters (possibly one every two or three years) with health and temperament being our first goals very closely followed by beauty (according to the AKC standard) and lure coursing ability.
Getting a puppy from Jonathan
Jonathan has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies. You'll also have the chance to share a bit about yourself and what you're looking for in a new companion. Together, you'll choose the puppy that's right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices range from $2,000 - $2,500 and include a non-refundable deposit of $100.
“Our primary concern is matching individual puppies with the right homes. Puppies are current on all vaccinations and microchipped. This helps us know how serious potential puppy homes are. The deposit is non-refundable but transferable to another puppy or litter.”

This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Enrichment and socialization
It's essential for young puppies to be socialized with a wide range of stimuli as they grow in order to ensure proper development. During this critical stage of their lives, I introduce my pups to a variety of new experiences for this purpose. They also go through early socialization surrounded by children. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Introduced to people of different ages and appearances, Socialized with other dogs, Daily handling, Socialized in new places, Socialized with children, Surface & tactile stimulation, Car rides, Various sounds, Basic Manners, Crate Training, House Training, Puppy Culture, Socialized with Other Animals, Various Surfaces, Sound Stimulation, and Socialized with Adult Dogs.
Puppy health practices
My puppies get all appropriate health care from birth until they leave for their new homes.
Extras
We send our puppies home with Initial potty training, Vet records, Microchip, Registration, Blanket with mom & littermates’ scent, Dew claws removed, Puppy Leash, Puppy Collar, Early Neurological Stimulation, Volhard Personality Test, Vaccinations, Blanket with Littermates Scent, Certificate of Health, AKC Registration, and Microchip.

If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.

Why Jonathan started breeding
Dogs have been my passion since childhood when I competed in 4-H. I'm particularly interested in breeding whippets that are beautiful and can do what they were bred to do. This has led me to an interest in lure coursing.

Jonathan’s program includes two colors
Jonathan’s Whippet puppies include white and fawn brindle and fawn brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
