Meet the breeder

I'm the breeder behind Stout-Hearted Hounds located in Sacramento, CA. My goal as a breeder is to produce dogs that not only meet the historical legacy of their breed but that can also live long and healthy lives as companions in the home. All of my dogs live in my home as beloved pets first and foremost, and on the weekends we enjoy spending time together outdoors - be it racing, hunting, showing, or just enjoying a romp at the beach.

Audrey’s experience

  • About Audrey

Stout-Hearted Hounds began in 2005 after I acquired my first Greyhound, a retired racer named Olde Ecstasy or just "Cali" to her friends. Cali was not only the beginning of my interest in sighthound breeds, but also the beginning of my passion for sighthound field sports. With Cali, and my second Greyhound Humer, I became acquainted with amateur racing and lure coursing. Needless to say, I became hooked on the breed and the sports. In 2007 I acquired my first Magyar Agár from Hungary, a male named Aranyági Utonálló Fenség, call name "Gil." Gil was an amazing introduction to the Magyar Agár breed, which has since become my primary focus as a breeder/exhibitor. He was a once-in-a-lifetime dog; not only an amazing athlete but a superb companion and friend to everyone he met. Through Gil I became hooked on hare coursing, both as a competition sport and a form of pleasure hunting.

  • What makes Audrey’s program special

My breeding program is focused on producing dogs that are true to the cultural heritage and original function of the breed. At the same time, I aim to produce dogs who are not only healthy and long-lived but who also make wonderful family companions.
