Karen’s experience

  • About Karen

I live on a horse farm in the Ocala area of Florida. Together with my husband Mark and two dedicated staff members, we breed quality Authentic multi-generational Australian Labradoodles. I have been an animal lover all of my life, and growing up I cannot remember a time when I didn't have a dog, cat, bunny, horse or basically anything I could talk my parents into having. While I've had a successful career in the creative world of graphic design and photography for over 25 years, my dream has always been to breed dogs. My program has now been going strong for over 13 years.

  • What makes Karen’s program special

My motto has always been "do it right or don't do it at all". I spent over a year researching pedigrees(which is actually never ending), breeders, and owners then I finally purchased my first two females. I have been breeding for over 11 years, I am not new to animals, dogs, or knowledge about genetics, caring for a breeding dogs. I also had many experienced, top breeders mentoring me, and helping me make good choices in the beginning. Now after many years of breeding the Australian Labradoodle my program is making a positive influence to enhance and improve the Australian Labradoodle breed into the future for service, therapy and family pets.

What's included

Enrichment and socialization

In the first 7 weeks of life, puppies gain use of all the senses, become mobile, start growing baby teeth, transition to eating solid foods, and become completely weaned (independent) from their dog moms. Learning is already rapidly occurring, making it important that human caretakers provide puppies with specific neurological stimulation, a complex environment, and careful, yet thorough, socialization for proper development and adjustment to living in human society. During this time, there are also very critical lessons that the puppies must learn from their dog moms and siblings. Therefore, puppies should not be removed from their original homes before 8 weeks of age. Puppy Development Stages First 7 Weeks (Neonatal Period, Transition Period, and 1st Socialization Period) The Imprinting Period: First 4 Months of Age Like children, puppies have a small window of time during brain development when they are most impressionable. This is called the imprinting, or critical learning period. For puppies, the imprinting period is during the first 16 weeks of life. Puppies learn more during this time than they can learn in a life time. Therefore, the quality and quantity of what they experience will have a huge impact on their future personalities and determine the formation of many of their “good” or “bad” behavior tendencies. That is why we feel it's very important to socialize our puppies before you get them home so they will have a great start to a happy life. I utilize the following enrichment methods: We use individual daily human interactions for early socialization and stimulation, Car rides, Volhard testing, Early socialization, Dog door, Biosensor Training, Socialized with Children, Socialized with Adult Dogs, Sound Stimulation, Household Desensitization, Touch Desensitization, Toys, e.g. Ball, Structures, e.g. Climbing, Human Interactions , Noise desensitization, Puppy temperament evaluation , bathing, children, and We take your puppy in our vehicle(s) different places to begin socialization and reduce fear.
