    I am very involved with my dogs. I am a dog trainer and train and compete in a wide variety of events. My dogs are titled in Conformation (AKC and UKC Champion titles), Hunt tests, Agility,Rally, Obedience, Scentwork, Dock Jumping, Barn Hunt, Tracking, as well as many other events.

  • What makes Kathy’s program special

    I focus on breeding dogs with excellent temperaments and health. I enjoy producing puppies that excel in a wide range of activities but are also excellent family members. I use several proven methods of puppy rearing which make pups fearless and ready to take on the next stage of their lives once they leave my house. Puppy prices range from $9,999 and include a refundable deposit of $500.

What's included

Enrichment and socialization

My puppies are exposed to the outdoors, water, and children before they leave for their new home. I utilize the following enrichment methods: Outdoors, e.g. rain and Socialized with Children.

Puppy health practices

My puppies are dewormed, vaccinated, have their dewclaws removed, a microchip, and a veterinary exam prior to rehoming.

Extras

We send our puppies home with Welcome Home bag, Dew claws removed, Sound and texture enrichment, Our puppies are all sent home with welcome home bags and information. , Microchipped , Vaccinations, Puppy Leash, Puppy Collar, Certificate of Health, Breed Club Registration, Bone, AKC Registration, and Microchip.

Pick up your puppy in Pisgah Forest, NC or nearby

If you’re nearby, you can visit in person to pick up your pup. If you’re far away, you can travel by car or plane.

  • Why Kathy started breeding

    I fell in love with the Chessie breed as a young girl. When I got my first dog as an adult I knew I wanted to become more involved in the breed and felt I had the time and energy to produce exceptional puppies. My 20 years in the breed and my successes as a breeder keep me striving to continue to breed well rounded puppies.

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered), Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation , Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA), Shoulder Osteochondrosis, Brucellosis, Canine Good Citizen (CGC)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • PRA, Cone-Rod Dystrophy 1 (PRA-crd1), Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), DNA Profile, Chondrodystrophy and IVDD Risk (CDDY-IVDD), Chondrodysplasia/Dwarfism, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
